Gandhigiri Rocks :)

Gandhian Philosophy in Short [collected from various sources] I know the path. It is straight and narrow. It is like the edge of a sword. I rejoice to walk on it. I weep when I slip. God's word is: 'He who strives never perishes.' I have implicit faith in that promise. Though, therefore, from my weakness I fail a thousand times, I will not lose faith, but hope that I shall see the Light when the flesh has been brought under perfect subjection, as some day it must. My soul refuses to be satisfied so long as it is a helpless witness of a single wrong or a single misery. But it is not possible for me, a weak, frail, miserable being, to mend every wrong or to hold myself free of blame for all the wrong I see.The spirit in me pulls one way, the flesh in me pulls in the opposite direction. There is freedom from the action of these two forces, but that freedom is attainable only by slow and painful stages.I cannot attain freedom by a mechanical refusal to act, but only by intellig...

The mind clings to what it knows.....

The mind clings to what it knows, and it clings to what it doesn't know oh, the mind, feckless and reckless unobservant of its own features knowing not itself, nor otherwise, clinging to its image, made of itself clinging to its own pretentiousness clinging to the extensions of a cloud filled day clinging to trappings of associations In the intolerance of unfulfilled dreams. promises that torment the imagination with a shattered life splintered like broken glass into countless reflections of clinging distorting the sense of wholeness Clinging to the thoughts, improvement and prosperity clinging to worse or better, wrong or right sweet or bitter, yesterday or tomorrow presence and absence, opened or unopened unhelpful or helpful and the fickle edges of inner movement ...

Today is a new day

I vow to remember that today is a new day Full of new beginnings and fresh moments Today, I will not cling to events of yesterday nor yesteryear But stay connected with what today brings. I will not madly pursue my desires at the expense of others Nor flee from challenging tasks. I will remain true to the unfolding process of today Without losing myself in thoughts of what was or what might be. I will treat today with awareness and sensitivity Even in the most ordinary of tasks. I will apply myself wholeheartedly to the fullness of today For I know that today holds the resource for authenticity. --Anonymoous

Navratras!

Navratras, or navratris, or nau-ratri - various names in which Hindus celebrate this festival worshipping the nine - roops or forms of Godddess Durga, is beginning 23rd day of September this year. So, here's wishing you all Very Shubh Navratras!!!!! Celebrated all over North India as Navratras, this festival is also the main festival of the Bengalis - and is known as the Durga Puja. The ten -day long celebration also coincides with the manchan of the Ramlila - that is, the depiction of the story of the Ramayana - of Lord Rama, Ma Sita, and Laxman - of their vanvas, i.e. exile for 14 years from Ayodhya; their stay in the various forests spannig entire India, various encounters with demons (rakhshasaz), kidnapping of Ma Sita, meeting with Hanuman, burning of Lanka..., and D fight with all the biggest demons of that age, and finally the victory of good over evil as they say. This victory is celebrated as Deepawali - the festival of lights - wow! that's the beauty of India - one f...

What is Hare Krishna?

With Janamashtami round the corner .. lets explore the meaning of Hare Krishna.... Who is Krishna? Why do people dress in robes and chant His name on the streets? What is the philosophy of these Krishna devotees? What's the meaning of their chant? Krishna is a name of the Supreme. It means "all- attractive." Anything that might attract you has its source in the Supreme. Therefore the Supreme is also known as Rama (rhymes with "drama"). "Rama" means "the highest eternal pleasure." All of us are pleasure-seeking creatures. So you can say that directly or indirectly we are all seeking Krishna. Chanting Hare Krishna is a way of seeking Krishna directly. As for the word "Hare" (pronounced huh-ray), it's a call to Krishna's divine energy. Just as the sun shines forth to us through its energies like heat and light, the Supreme reveals Himself through His multitude of energies. If the Supreme is the source o...

The Dumbest thing 1

The Dumbest thing is to..... .....is to waste your time :P This might sound glib, but two people especially friends, relatives, or partners not talking to one another over a mutually perceived slight, is a complete waste of time. Obviously it follows, that the longer they remain incommunicado and persona non grata, vis- a-vis each other, the more time they must be wasting. Yet people are capable of speding years. even tens of them, and often close to or including a lifetime, that's left to them without resuming any form of relationship with the other. When and if they manage to get away successfully, it;'s because each believes the other is to blame without thinking that it takes two wrongs to make a third. So, whose time is being wasted? Clearly, not the rest of the world's because that has its own demands to deal with Clearly, not that of one’s immediate folks and kin since they too eventually abdicate any concern they might have initially harboured. What’s clear,...

UNSPOKEN ARRANGEMENTS

UNSPOKEN ARRANGEMENTS Who am I to change your painful perceptions to calm your waves of sorrow to dissolve your conventional certitude into a mosaic of a different order? What right is there to exude such words? to blow away the dust in your open eyes? from where comes the gesture to wipe the tears hanging limply upon your tired cheeks? What generates this shared meeting with you and I in unspoken arrangements that speak of that, not in time, not tangible? where does this authority come from? who shapes this configuration of sounds we have made together in this meeting where gentle words fall heavily upon this space. What are these garments of words that hang in the air? what makes me think I have much or little to say? while experiencing this unwoven realm where existence and non...

Sattva or purity

The more sattva/purity rises in your life, the more easily your tasks get accomplished.  The amount of sattva/ purity in us decides the productivity of our input.  If you put in a lot of effort and the result turns out to be less or below your expectations, it means that there is a lack of sattva/ purity in life.  When we meditate, then our work happens easily. People are unaware of this secret. It is very important to meditate whenever we get time, so that you accomplish your tasks more efficiently and with ease. -Sri Sri

Attending to the source

I love making posters and here is a favourite of mine The divinity within you is derived directly from the source Everything is energy and "when the Source is attended to, all your other abilities flower automatically, spontaneously. -Sri Sri Ravishankar"

To laugh often and love much

Ralph Waldo Emerson - says: "To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded." What is success to you? To some people, success might mean wealth. To others, it is recognition, good health, good family, happiness, satisfaction, and peace of mind. What this really tells us is that success is subjective. It can mean different things to different people. The definition that I feel summarizes "success" well is: Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal.

Spiritual Marriage and Love

I came across this beautiful poetry by Khalil Gibran.. which spiritually and beautifully explains marriage and love... True love connects at spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels, not necessarily all at the same time, but in due course of time. Love with knowledge is freedom, and few chosen ones are those who get unconditional love for unconditional love sets you free... Then Almitra spoke again and said, "And what of Marriage, master?" And he answered saying: "You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days. Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from...
